Healthy + Thriving Relationships

How to Get Past Just Surviving

How to Get Past Just Surviving

Tarah Avery

I have a growing suspicion that the majority of people are only surviving – in that place of barely getting through day by day. Sound familiar?

It was the year 2011, I was in my third year of college to get my BA in Education, or so I thought.

Long story short, I didn’t get into the program, and spent the next year just… surviving my way through college.

I was not living for anything bigger than myself, I had no clear goals, no direction. This caused me to almost fail out of college, I barely made it through and had to retake many of the classes I failed in.

Where was I going with my life?

Take a moment…

  •  Tell me about your passions.
  •  Tell me all the things you’ve discovered about yourself after all your years of searching.
  •  Why do you do the things you do? Why do you believe the things you believe?
  •  What are the things you are certain of and not so certain of?
For you to live your true potential you need to describe to yourselves what your dreams are, what makes you thrive? Take this time to discover who you are and not just allow life to sweep you in its current.

Take the time, dig deep, and discover who God made you to be. Any easy way to do this is to divide your life into 4 categories. These are the ones we focus on:

  1. Relationships.

Including family, friends & romance.

  1. Health.

This includes physical, mental & spiritual (But isn’t it all spiritual?)

  1. Career.
  2. Wealth.

This takes more than just an afternoon, be patient with yourself.

But you must start somewhere– answer the questions above and take the time to think about your dreams for each area of your life by thinking where you want to be years down the road.

For example in our marriage (that would be under relationships if you’re married), our dream is to always have 4 super-dates a year and a weekly date night. That is a dream, not just a goal, so it becomes a top priority in our schedule.

Another example, in our careers we want to be able to work from anywhere in the world, that is our lifelong dream and so we create goals such as “buy a new laptop” to keep that dream alive.

That simple goal works for us because our business is online and we have employees who live all around the world.

So how DO you get past surviving? Dream! And dream BIG!

But don’t stop there, learn how to make your dreams become reality by downloading The Ultimate Guide to Your Goal’s Getaway here. Because remember, “A dream without a plan is just a wish.”

Friend, don’t give up on your dreams, they are God-given and full of purpose.

Are you ready to take the time to discover who you are?

Your Friend,
